Hearts Burning
This is a new piece I have been working on, so I thought I would share what it looks like at this stage of carving. The Emmaus story in the Bible has always been a favorite of mine. One of the appearances of Jesus after the Resurrection is to the disciples who are walking on their way to Emmaus, which is located seven miles from Jerusalem. The disciples run into Jesus on the road and start telling of all the things that had happened in the past days about Jesus' death and Resurrection. Jesus acts like he does not know any of it. Then as Jesus was going to continue walking on his journey, they beg him to join them for a meal. When they break the bread they recognize Jesus and he disappears from their midst. As they think back on their conversation, they remember that their hearts were burning when he was with them. We too need to be aware of the times in our life when our hearts burn and realize God is trying to get a message through to us. May these days following Easter draw us closer to this gift of love.
