Inner Light

For a few weeks now I have been working on a new carving and enjoying the direction it is taking. I titled the piece "Inner Light." I first made a small sketch then glued up three boards using my six foot clamps. I enlarged my sketch on the wood and began carving. As I went along in the carving I made some changes to the drawing because I noticed a better way to emphasis what I was wanting to express. In the piece we are lead through the dark to see the light of stars, sun, moon, and rainbow. We also come to see light in not so obvious ways of the angels we encounter every day, eyes, hands, and signs of new birth. These signs of inner light lead us into the depth of our soul. This inner light reveals the compassion that creates our new morn each day. We can behold its miracle just by taking time to notice the things we carry within us.
