Gather up the Fragments

The term fragment is used to describe something that is broken off or incomplete. The apostles were told in the scripture story to pick up the fragments of the leftovers after feeding the crowds with the loaves and fishes. We know that in fragments there can be gems. People go to garage sales and hunt through other's garbage all in search of a treasure. We need to start seeing the fragmented in society as a treasure instead of an inconvenience. This new piece that I carved draws attention to gathering in the fragmented. We begin to feel whole when we do this and never experience empty baskets again. We begin to see opportunities for the broken to become intact and all to enter into fullness. After reflecting over this reading I began to see that the message went deeper than gathering up the loaves and fishes that were left over from the miracle of everyone sharing their food. It is a continuous calling to gather up the fragments we encounter in life and see them as whole.20130910-193113.jpgGather up the Fragments, Linden Wood, 12"h x 12"w x 1"d
