Through The Power

The carving, “Through the Power,” is one that was inspired when I heard the readings in Rome of Pentecost a few years ago. The reading was read in Italian. While reading along in my book in English I realizedthat the Spirit not only helped them speak in tongues and all could understand, but the Spirit also helped them hear in tongues and understand. For some reason I had never caught that thought before.We are each engulfed in some type of flame of the Spirits presence. As we pray with these gifts we reflect on wisdom and how it calls us forth to bring communion. Our gift of understanding helps us enter into what it is that occupies our struggle and it will leave us with new vision. The gift of counsel helps us to discover what potential we want to draw forth. Fortitude gifts us with seeing things to completion. The gift of knowledge favors us with bold proclamations of our inner self. Piety causes us to break through boundaries and feel God's tenderness. Finally the gift of fear of the Lord awakens in us the awareness that in our weakness is our strength. Living these gifts will fill us with fire and our inmost beings will be replenished. Summer is a great time to be replenished with these gifts.
