Third Week of Advent

Today we celebrate Gaudete Sunday, "Rejoice Sunday." We are half way through Advent and are invited to reflect on joy.In the section of the Advent carving that we are looking at this week we see John the Baptist pointing out the way of Messiah's birth. The light from on high shines down on Mary which is represented by the pieces of gold metal. Christ light shatters the darkness in our lives and gives us cause to rejoice.
