Today, Feb.2, is the feast day of the Presentation of Jesus in the temple. A few years back I carved the Seven Sorrows of Mary and this actually is the first sorrow. Jesus is between Simeon and Mary.Simeon raises Jesus, knowing the ancient prophecy is now being fulfilled. Mary wants to offer Jesus as gift, receiving whatever is God's will. The cross is already showing itself in Mary's life and she again commits to what its meaning holds for her.
