The Heart of Mercy

This carving shows us that nothing will separate us from the love of Christ. Through the cross of suffering we are brought into the mercy of God. We stand united in our common struggle, witnessing that all works together for those who love Christ.As you notice there are faces of individuals across the heart where we usually see the thorns. I wanted to connect the idea that we are held in God's heart and love. As partakers of this love we impart new life and energy shining forth through the sign of the cross. The effects of this mercy meld into new vision for those who unite in this loving stance. We reflect that which we have been given—mercy.
