Pine Cone Glory

This carving shows the beauty and strength of a simple pine cone. In the summer months as we go for walks in wooded areas we either view the cones hanging from evergreen trees or lying on the ground. In this piece I show a small portion of a tree that caught my attention during one of these walks. The detail found in the cones is what captured my attention. Their hardness clinging to the softness of the evergreen, offers a stunning contrast. Both survive and actually thrive by presenting what they were created to be.
